Located right in the centre of the city, Leipzig Central Station is long established as one of the key hubs of the German railway network.
For long-distance travel the ICE-, IC-, EC-, CityNightLine- and DB NachtZug (sleeper) connections provide good and fast route options from north to south and east to west. ICE lines run hourly from Hamburg, Berlin, Frankfurt, Erfurt, Munich, Nuremberg and Dresden direct to Leipzig.
There are non-stop IC routes to Magdeburg, Hanover, Bremen and Dortmund. Local trains provide direct connections to all the larger towns within the surrounding area.
